The issue with the currently available as Extras -> Additional fields is that they are 'drop-down', hence you will most likely need to maintain all possible values in config. Also, I don't know if the field length fits your needs. Something I have used in the pass is to populate the 'Description' of one of the Partners (e.g. Sold-To) in the Sales Area View with the information you need. Would that work?

This is mainly for reporting purpose and not required for pricing. It represents a field in their legacy system and client wants to continue it because their current record keeping and certain manual process is based on the report generated using that fields.
