With regards to "marking as helpful", I think there might have some technical problem.
In the past I too have faced technical issues - e.g. posts sent by not getting posted in the forum, posts sent once but members receiving posts twice.
Would you like to follow the below link and click on the "thumps-up" sign, in order to mark the post as helpful?

To get a better understanding, where do you click the "thumps up" sign (online or your email or ...)? Maybe we could communicate these type of issues to the Moderators etc. for "improvements" to this forum / site.
I was thinking about your question "What role does NA00 play" - Could you please
1. configure a free goods determination with copy of NA00 (i.e. ZNA0) and create table that satisfies business requirement that for a particular material, some amount of free material (same mat) is offered.
2. & then explain the group ""What role does NA00 play"?
This way you shall have a clear answer to your question.
