RE:[sap-log-sd] A Value Cannot Be Set for Target Quantity in Sub-Items

Sure -

Have a sales bom which consists of a configurable 'header' product, for lack of a better term that contains options for extended warranties - hardware and software. The sctual BOM consists of three items - the main product, the extended hw warranty and the extended software warranty. the main product is a non-configuranle fert, while the warranties are categorized as an offshoor of a dien. I thought I could simply use logic in the bill to populate the qty on a non-configurable warranty, but that doesn't seem to be the case. So I've changed it to being configurable and did the procedure of linking VCSD_UPDATE and ZMENGE to a variable that is identified by reading a variant table.which translate a input code into the number of years. so, the user enters a code, it looks up a varaint table to get a number of years to be associated with the warranty, and tries to populate the target quantity on the sales order for deriving a price and a value.
i changed the hw warranty to be configurable and have associated it with the same class as the parent product. I have put the od provedure on the config profile to populate the value in the variant configuration of the warranty.
it works - i can see, by using the results button, that the characteristics for the warranty are being correctly populated in the variable associated with the target qty. However, after that view, i get the errors described above.

If screenshots would be of help, let me know.

Thanks,

dave

Subject: A Value Cannot Be Set for Target Quantity in Sub-Items

I have a configurable material which explodes out to a three items, another of which is configurable as well. Everything works correctly - when I check the characteristics of the sub item, the correct value is associated with the sub-item. However, after viewing I get the title message. In looking at the long text, it is telling me the following:

A value cannot be set for Target quantity in sub-items
Message no. V1838

Diagnosis
Your system configuration means that values cannot be set in the following fields for sub-items:

1. KWMENG = Sales order item quantity
2. VRKME = Sales unit
3. UMVKZ = Conversion numerator
4. UMVKN = Conversion denominator

5. ZMENG = Sales order item target quantity
6. ZIEME = Target sales unit
7. UMZIZ = Conversion numerator
8. UMZIN = Conversion denominator

--How do i change the 'system configuration' to allow this type of change? According to the doc, it's a valid changeable characteristic in VCSD_UPDATE - ZMENGE.

A follow-up message 'Target quantity 3.000 not copied from the configuration' and the more detailed long text explanation is as follows:

Target quantity 3.000 not copied from the configuration
Message no. V1893

Diagnosis
The system could not copy the value, which was set by the configuration, to the sales document.

Procedure
Check the configuration

**So where do I check the configuration??**

Thanks,

dave
