Reply from Typewriter on Jan 6 at 12:38 PM saps, Thank you for asking / investigating this issue from many angles! :) I would like to comment and question on your post. Why did you ask the below question - "Are you creating a normal sales order copied from OR or is it returns RE?" "Why do we need an order reason in a normal sales order?" Order reason as F1 indicates; is to later on get sales statistics keeping order reason as a selection criteria. F1 help given for Order reason is worth reading. One of my clients wanted to spend in News paper and magazine advertising. Thus when there was a sales order created, the sales order employee / user would ask how did the customer know about this product. If the customer replied that he/she saw an advertisement. Then the sales order employee / user would key in that particular Order reason. Later on the management could analyze the return on investment w.r.t. this marketing strategy (i.e. News paper and magazine advertising). Thus ALL these were "normal" order type, but to temporarily differentiate; in this case Order reason was used.

Please clarify: Are you referring to order reason as reason code in sales order? Are you creating a normal sales order copied from OR or is it returns RE? Why do we need an order reason in a normal sales order? While declaring an alternative sales doc. type, one of the prerequisites is that sales doc. type must not be blocked. Please go to VOV8 and press F1 near alt. sales doc. types for further reference. Kindly confirm if I understood your question right.
