The General Item Category Group (MARA-MTPOS_MARA) services at general level for all sales area's unless the Item category group (MVKE-MTPOS) is filled with a different value. In the last case the sales area concerned uses the MVKE-MTPOS to determine the item category in sales en delivery. It is not obsolete and needed for different steering if processes are not the same in all sales area's.
