The discussion is about migration of closed sales orders and subsequent
activities on those orders. Subsequent documents - Credit/Debit Memos,
Returns - are created without reference to a preceding document for these,
along with a tight manual control process. However, for open sales orders,
these would be created with reference. Mimi must have mixed up these two
scenarios.
