In the fields section of the access sequence (bottom level), in the column ATyp (Access Type), you can define a value which makes the field optional. I think that I remember B means that it is not used in the condition record selection, i.e. memo only., & C means that it is optional but if used, then it can be used to select a matching condition record. I've never used A so am not sure what it does. Maybe someone else has.
