If the set is going to be used in a user exit where it can be opened and interpreted via function module, there is no reason why it would not work. The advantage is that you may be able to have a user maintain that set without going to the trouble of having to put a table together, or, use some sort of variant to execute the particular program.

We do this in SD in one of the user exits, just not necessarily in pricing, but I don't know why it wouldn't work. Again, I believe this has to be used in conjunction with ABAP programming.

Subject: Will GS01 set work in a pricing requirement?

My FICO consultant has suggested that I use a GS01 value set to group certain materials and use that set in a pricing requirement. Has anyone used a GS01 value set successfully in SD -- particularly in a pricing requirement?
