Subject: On each change made to a sales order in sap , is the data in sd master tables getting modified or added again as new records?

hi, we are facing a problem . A customer claims to have created a sold-to-party as say 'X' but now it is showing as 'Y'. We have checked in the changes made to document and couldnt find any changes. The sold-to-party was 'y' frm the start. Can v check in vbak table and find out if any changes have been made? According to my knowledge, the records are modified each time, is my assumption correct? is there any way that i can verify whether the customer's claim is correct ie at any point of time 'sold-to-party' was 'x' ?
