An Account Group determines a customer from a holistic perspective: It's a 'Complete Customer', it's just a shipping address, it's just a place where we send invoices... You can customized which fields are mandatory, screen layouts, and default functions (roles) a customer can play based on the Account Group used to create a customer. On the other hand a Partner function, as it's name indicates, determine which 'roles' an entity (customer in this case) can play. You can define which Partner functions an account group will perform: e.g. a Sold-To Customer (0001) can play te roles of sold-to, ship-to, payer, bill-to. Basically Account Groups is used for configuration of the customer, and partner functions to describe the role played in different roles. For example, you can assign to a customer XXXX another customer as payer (YYYY). You do this with the support of partner functions. Hope it helps. Bbe

I just want to be clear conceptually. In SAP, we have account groups 0001, 0002, 0003, and 0004 as Sold -to, Ship-to, Payer and Bill - to respectively. We also have partner functions Sold-to, Ship-to, Bill-to and Payer as SP, SH, BP, and PY respectively. I don't understand why we have different account groups and different partner types. It is even more confusing also because both have the same name. If we do partner determination at 0001, do we need partner determination procedure for 0002, 0003, and 0004? What are the business reasons for doing so? Thank you in advance. | | __.____._ Copyright © 2011 Toolbox.com and message author. Toolbox.com 4343 N.
