Hi Ravi,

In the beverage can industry i.e. for a CAN manufacturer (the cans, as in, used for Coca-cola & other drinks)

Plant - A CAN manufacturing factory in Germany

Shipping point - This factory / plant manufacturers CANS, packs them in to pallets, with different packaging material - plastic packaging material (i.e. pallets, topframes) for customers in Europe & wooden packaging material for customers in Asia & USA. (This depends upon returnable and non returnable packaging material). Therefore this plant has 2 shipping points. One for European customers & the other for overseas customers (i.e. Asia & USA).

Loading points - In the shipping point for European customers, this plant has 2 Loading points - one for its own trucks & the other for 3rd party trucks.

Warehouse - From many different plants (i.e. factories), the CANS are collected in one big distribution center. This the business has coined as warehouse consisting of elaborate storage types, picking areas, storage bins.
In this warehouse storage of goods and in & out movement of goods takes place. Inventory management is important for smooth putaway, picking etc. activities.

Can any one please tell me that what is difference between following
plant,shipping point,warehouse,godown,loading point.

I am in cement industry, here every plant,shipping point, warehouse is same and loading point are different.

Can any one tell that in which industry all these things are different or what is the benefit of defining all this things differently, means is it depend on integration of other module like MM and FI.
