Reply from Dutch on Feb 16 at 6:47 PM It's quite simple; during document processing in SD none of the fields on the sales order/delivery/billing document come from the sales area data of the BP-partner function, hence the system does not care if the BP-partner is extended to the sales area in question.
The only data that is used from the BP-partner is the address data.

I am noticing that while system is not allowing me to add a PY partner in the customer master which is not extended to the sold to sales org, I am able to add a partner for BP which is also not extended to SP sales org.
