The partner determination at the customer level drives what partner
functions are attached to each customer record.
At the sales order level there is partner determination at both the header
and line item level.
These two levels can take partners from any of the customer master records
and other forms of master data from SAP.
For example
The SP,BP,PY and SH all come from the Sold to account group however you
might have a credit Manger that comes from the business partner table.

This is a simple question but I want to know how partner determination at sales order differs from that at customer master. Why we need two levels of partner determination or even more?
The reason I am asking is we are migrating customer master from legacy to SAP ECC 6.0. We are also migrating open sales order. How does partner determination differs in two conversions?
