RE:[sap-log-sd] Customer master-central data

1) What is the point of creating a customer without sales org/company code ?..

A company could have different departments - e.g. Administration dept., Sales dept., Finance dept. A CMR has information from all these 3 departments.
a. The Admin dept. can fill in the General data, which is applicable for all sales areas and company codes for that customer.
Administration department may be situated at the Head Office of the company.

b. The Sales dept. - say it is in another geographical location, & days after general data is filled - fills information relevant and specific to that particular sales area.
It can so happen that for another sales area (s.a. 2) for the same customer, another set of Sales Area data is added. This is done in VD01 with given sales area.

c. The Financial dept - with FD01 and given Co cd, the financial dept gives the necessary financial information in the CMR.

Thus 3 "pieces" of CMR (general data, sales area data and company code data) can be given separately with different transaction codes. Also this helps in only authorized employees can input information which is pertaining to their respective departments.

2) Now when I extend my customer A to a sales org and then go in Extras--->additional data, then I cannot see the attribute 1 fields or in any case, I cannot see the attribute fields at all

As explained by Marcel. Both set of fields "Customer cond gr 1..." are called the same but they are NOT the same - one is at central level (stored at client level) and stored in KNA1. & the other is at sales area level & stored in KNVV.

Subject: Customer master-central data

Hello,

We can create a customer in t code VD01 without giving any sales org or company code data. In this transaction, when we go to Extras-additional data, we can see the attributes fields like attr 1, 2, 3 and so on.

My questions are:-

1) What is the point of creating a customer without sales org/company code ?.. To me creating a customer like this means that the customer details (like attribute 1,2 etc) will be globally valid for this customer !

Now let's say , the customer created in this step is "A"... with attribute 1 as "AB.., I hope all the data for customer created like this goes to KNA1 table !

2) Now when I extend my customer A to a sales org and then go in Extras--->additional data, then I cannot see the attribute 1 fields or in any case, I cannot see the attribute fields at all ( the attribute screen which I saw when I created a customer without any sales org/company code as in step 1).

Why is the above happening and which table the customer sales org data goes to ?

Please clarify.

Regards
Pamela
