RE:[sap-log-sd] Difference between Condition update and Rebate

Hi Vivek,

First, see Rebate-accrual & Condition update as different concepts & used to meet entirely difference business needs. Thereby you can understand these concepts clearly & then coming to the second point (i.e. your comment about the similarities between the two).
Like Jagannath mentioned, rebate is an incentive given to the customer. This is given at the end of a mutually agreed time-period.
E.g. Accrual - You have a rebate agreement with Customer C-1 that you shall give 1% of its sales for 2011, back, as an incentive. Thus C-1 is buying during the year 2011, with accruals you are calculating how much "incentive money" you own C-1. So if in a month C-1 bought 1000Euros, then for that month accrual = 10Euros & so calculated for the entire agreement period.

Condition update - This is in pricing. A condition type (say K005 = discount) you can activate field "Condition update". In VK11 you can give the "limits" for this discount.
E.g. You shall give C-1, Material = M-1, discount 10Euros per unit. But after 100 units of goods have been bought by this customer you do not want to give this discount anymore to him. This "limit" you can set by Condition update, in VK11.
So, in essence, for calculating when the discount should be deactivated, the totalling of units of goods is done!

Second point, i.e. your comment about similarity between Cond update & Rebate-accruals; if seen both are totalizing something. In that way they could be thought of doing - totalizing - something similar.

But I would keep both concepts differently. This way it would be simple to understand.

Subject: Difference between Condition update and Rebate

Hi Guys,

When I see the functionality of condition update,it seems similar to Rebates, the only difference find is in Rebates the discounts are accrued but in condition update the discounts are applied when the sales orders are created.
So, please let me know if there any other differences in the two.

Thanks,
Vivek
