A proforma invoice is not part of true billing. It cannot be used for any
of the subsequent processing - cancellation, returns, etc.

My initial thoughts are you will need to consider your SD-BI as a proforma for printing.
Use IDOC's or ALE to pass the billing into your external system. Though you will need a IDOC userexit and/or a billing userexit program RV60* to determine which customer billing is processed as a normal billing and which is determined to be sent to the external system.
