Hi Liz, From my understanding of the issue and your post, field Order Reason has to be made mandatory for a particular sales document type (i.e. for process - goods free of charge). By some way (may be coding or noncoding) the system has to be setup in such a way that the user cannot leave the initial screen of the sales order, of a particular Sales document type (i.e. for process - goods free of charge), if the field Order Reason is not filled. For rest of the Sales document types, user would not be obliged to fill in field Order Reason. If I am misunderstanding your point, kindly explain it.

But just a thought. If 'Order Reason' is required for all Orders creation, will setting this field as Mandatory helps? In that way, the user are not allowed to proceed without fulfilling that field.
