As a general suggestion - please always paste the entire error message.
Thereby members can give you tailor-made / specific advise.
So what is the error message you are getting in VA01?
For BOM, check the following -
1) In main item category (e.g. TAN), in VOV7,
- field Structure must be A
- field Application must be SD01
2) In VOV4,
- Sales doc type + item category group of subitem MMR i.e. ERLA + _ + main item category + subitem item category
- Sales doc type + item category group of main item MMR i.e. NORM + _ + _ + main item category
3) You have done settings in CS01 -
BOM Usage must be = 5 Sales and distribution
Now test by creating a sales order with BOM main material.
This is NOT difficult, thus just adhere to the above steps and things might turn out fine.

Created three materials (1 main item NORM + 2 subitems ERLA) and maintained in CS01. When I try to create sales order, these sub items are not showing in the sales order.
