Subject: Pricing Conversion - Which SAP Table and Fields are to be Mapped

TW -

I'm really sorry, but I've been trying to gently get the point across that I'm not going to teach anyone the condition technique, or how to design and build a pricing procedure, or how to build the ETL process, here in the forum. Those subjects require training and experience (and the customer deserves both!), and this forum was never intended as a replacement for either. Also, there's a lot of good information on the internet about using LSMW, and this isn't the place for training on that subject either.

These forums were intended for experts to help other experts. That's supposed to be what differentiates them (us, really) from some of the other forums out there. What that translates to is that it's normal for someone to come here and ask a specific question. On the other hand it's really not expected that people should provide the steps necessary to configure an SAP process from scratch, or supply the actual code required for a programming challenge.

What this all boils down to is, my answer to your request for the major steps has already been posted:
1) Design and configure your pricing procedure - use an SD expert
2) Design and implement your ETL (migration) process - use an expert developer on both ends - both the legacy Extract and the SAP Load.

Step 1 includes all sorts of concepts, such as the field catalog, the condition types, requirements and formulas, access sequences, the actual procedure with its subtotals and such, tax, accounting, LIS or BW reporting, custom reporting, and so on. Step 2 is just as complex: legacy record selection, data transformation, data transfer, communication formats, extraction tool selection, load tool selection (I also prefer LSMW if nothing else stands out as being better), integrity validation, and so on. Throw all of this into a pot along with the people in the expert roles, and stir with a big stick. It's really not that hard, unless you've never been exposed to it. It's easy to do, but hard to do *right*.

Have I remembered to mention yet: use experienced, expert people for this?

Dave
