But, say for example when changes are to be done and they canNOT be performed via application / transactions; then what is the way forward? John - I'm sorry, but the original question suggests that somebody had a really stupid idea. NEVER change standard SAP tables directly. ALWAYS use the application to change the data you need changed. For this one, try VLO2N. If that doesn't jump out at you, talk to your functional folks and ask them how they would change the field. The point is, there my be several or several dozen other tables that need to get updated - correctly - when this field has to change. There's no way for you to make sure you got them all. Also, consider that the value you change it to might not even be legal in light of your customizing! You may create a Frankenstein document that is literally impossible for an end user to create.
