There are MM userexits and BADI's that can be used to control this function. Though you may need something like the item category to identify it references the SO.

Hi SAP Gurus,

User has created the PR & PO for a sales order line item. After PR/PO creation user is able to change the plant. We need to stop that is there any standard configuration or setting by which I can stop the user to change the plant.

System is giving the error if I am trying to delete the item since the PO exist but not stopping me to change the plant.
