Hi Peter, Material Determination is used to swap one material with another material. ex : you have material A , B, C . if you want to supply material B, to whomever ordered material A. then you can use the material determination . substitution reason is, why you are replacing material, and what materials to be displayed in the order. Hope this will help you. Regards, sri

Hi, I have a question - it is possible (and how?) to set up system to work like this: 1. Material A - 100 PC on the stock 2. Material B - 120 PC on the stock 3. Material C - 150 PC on the stock I set material determination in this way that for Material A set Material B and Material C as a sybstitute materials with screen selection. And now I create sales order: 1. Put Material A - quantity - till 100 PC - nothing happen - material i s avaliable - all is OK. 2. Material A more that 100 PC - popup screen appear with materials B and C to choose. I read in SAP documentation such part: In automatic product selection (reasons for substitution 0004 and 0006), the system automatically replaces the requested material if it is unavailable. If automatic product selection is being used, the system may display (based on Customizing) the entered and substituted material as main items and sub-items in the sales order. This part "if it is unavailable" doesn't work for me because even if I put Material A 80 PC (available 100) - system replace it by Material B.
